Bangladeshi hospitals, operational around the clock, face mounting challenges as climate change takes a toll. A recent study spanning from 1990 reveals a 41% surge in damages, attributed to the escalating impacts of the greenhouse effect. In 2100, the threat looms larger, with future closures predicted to surpass 10% in India, 9.6% in China, and a staggering 15% in Nepal. Insufficient ventilation systems exacerbate concerns, fostering a constant presence of germs within healthcare facilities, and intensifying infection control challenges.

As climate change becomes a significant contributor to future hospital damage and financial strain, the vulnerability of local hospitals is heightened. Immediate collaborative efforts are crucial to address escalating damages, soaring repair costs, and service interruptions, further stressing an already stretched healthcare infrastructure. The healthcare sector now seeks targeted interventions to fortify hospital resilience and safeguard the well-being of the local population.
